AN IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ALL SURGICAL PROCEDURE PATIENTS

Although this was a minor procedure, there is still a chance of complications. Some bleeding may occur. Apply pressure with a piece of gauze or facial tissue for a full 10 minutes. Call the office if the following occurs:

  • Swelling at or around the site
  • Heat around the site
  • Redness or red streaks around the site
  • Pus or oozing from the site
  • Severe pain that cannot be controlled by Tylenol

SHAVE BIOPSY

  1. Do not wet area for the first 24 hours.
  2. Clean area daily with soap and water with each shower.
  3. Keep the area dry and clean. Apply bandage, if necessary, to keep clean, otherwise, letting the wound have air is good.
  4. Take Tylenol for pain, if necessary.

EXCISION OR PUNCH BIOPSY

  1. Do not wet the area for the first 24 hours
  2. Clean area daily with soap and water with each shower.
  3. Keep the area dry and clean. Apply bandage, if necessary, to keep clean, otherwise, letting the wound have air is good.
  4. Take Tylenol for pain, if necessary.
  5. Do not forget to return for a wound check appointment as instructed.
